It gives me great pleasure and pride to welcome you delegates, exhibitors & visitors. I also like to extend a special greeting to our international participants and to our younger colleagues, some of whom will be attending their first national meeting.
The 2010 event is the 6th conference in the bi-annual series which is considered very special this year as the MOC completed ten years of success since it was held for first time in 2000.
I am very proud to say that the Mediterranean offshore Conference has become one of the most important & effective international meetings dealing with oil & gas business. The twinship of MOC of Alexandria with OMC Ravenna witnessed continued growth since the year 2000 that aimed maintaining the attention of the international petroleum industry focused on the Mediterranean region. Today MOC 2010 has the presence of over 5000 attendees & more than 200 exhibiting companies.
These remarkable achievements are a result of the successful chains in the Egyptian Petroleum Sector with the support and guidance of H.E. Eng. Sameh Fahmy the Ministry of Petroleum.
Egypt as one of the pioneers in oil & Gas activities and certainly the leading country in Africa is well positioned to take advantage of the new opportunities which will occur.
Throughout its long history of successes, the Egyptian oil industry has always reacted promptly, and effectively while at the same time looking ahead and planning long term.
The conference will cover the fields of Drilling & Downhole Technology, Fluid Mechanisms & Oil Recovery Products, Offshore Platforms, Design, Piling, and Floating Equipment, LNG Production Technology, Reservoir Engineering, Evaluation, to present the latest technologies in the oil & gas industry.
You have a full agenda ahead of you, but I do hope you will have an opportunity to visit some of Alexandria beautiful places. From a stroll through the magnificent Mediterranean Sea to a historical site visits and a gala dinner, which there is a lot for you to see and do.
